About The Bucket Whisk

Hello and welcome to Bucket Whisk!

My name is Roxanne Leonor and I am the founder of Bucket Whisk! My journey from the Philippines to the USA has been filled with great challenges, adventures, and sweet discoveries and I would love to share my story and passion for baking with you.

My Personal Story:

I was born in the Philippines and moved to the US when I was 15. I worked hard and tried my best to get through school and adapt to the new changes presented to me. As I grew up and went to college, I held various part-time jobs across different fields. During that time, a friend referred me to a startup company, which allowed me to work from home and only be in the field when needed. This flexibility led me to start hosting on Airbnb in 2016, making extra income by renting out my extra bedrooms in LA. Meeting people from around the world and learning about their cultures and travel experiences was a fantastic way for me to make connections.

Growing up in the Philippines, I was surrounded by rich flavors and culinary traditions. I've always loved food, watching whoever was cooking in the kitchen, asking questions, and developing an interest in cooking from a young age. I believe food brings everyone together. Being in the States exposed me to a diverse range of cultures, and my travels in my twenties further opened my eyes to the amazing flavors the world has to offer.

My Passion for Baking:

Cooking was always my hobby, and I baked from time to time. When I learned how to make bread, starting with simple recipes like Challah, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, cupcakes, and cakes, it quickly became my source of comfort and validation. Baking allowed me to use my creativity and play with different flavors. It became more than just a hobby, it became my obsession!

Anyone can bake, but not everyone can put their heart and soul into their creations. My love for baking grew, and people would compliment me on the taste of my desserts and baked goods. I constantly received messages from people wanting to buy other things I made, boosting my confidence and helping me overcome the worries in my head.

Journey to Entrepreneurship:

During the pandemic lockdown, I decided to transform my hobby into a business. There was a huge craze for combining ube flavor with bread and desserts. I developed a recipe for the perfect Ube Cheese Pandesal, which became an instant hit. With the whole country shut down, I couldn't host Airbnb guests, so I focused on baking hundreds of pandesal buns and selling them straight out of my home kitchen.

However, the journey wasn't without challenges. I faced constant worries and fears, and losing everything I had worked for due to choosing the wrong business partner was a significant setback for me. I had to start over at the end of 2020, going through emotional flashbacks and constant worries. Thankfully, I was surrounded by supportive and loving people who helped me through difficult times and reminded me of my worth and capabilities. It was out of their love and support that Bucket Whisk was founded, born from the joy I bring to people's lives through my creations.

Bucket Whisk is not just a bakeshop. It's a story with a sweet surprise, offering flavors that will transport you back to your childhood. Every bite is an inspiration and an opportunity to experience other heritages through food.
